Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Prep Time (“we”, “us”, or “the app”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Prep Time mobile application.
By using Prep Time you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Who we are
Prep Time is operated by Zed Indie Hacker (“the developer”), based in Zambia. You can contact us at zedindiehacker@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect the minimum information needed to give you a useful study experience.
Information you provide
- Account details — email address and display name when you sign up or sign in with Google.
- Exam preferences — the exam board (ECZ or GCE), grade, and subjects you select.
- Study activity — quizzes you take, the answers you submit, your scores, and your study streaks.
- Profile photo — only if you choose to add one. Photos are picked from your device with your permission.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data — device model, OS version, app version, language, and crash reports. Collected via Google Firebase Crashlytics.
- App integrity signals — Firebase App Check verifies that requests come from a genuine, unmodified copy of the app, to protect our servers from abuse.
- Push notification token — a Firebase Cloud Messaging token used to send study reminders. We never share this token with third parties for advertising.
- Subscription status — managed by RevenueCat to verify your Prep Time Pro entitlement.
We do not collect: contacts, SMS, call logs, browsing history outside the app, precise location, or microphone audio.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide and personalise the app (show the right past papers and subjects).
- Save your study progress and let you continue where you left off across devices.
- Send study reminders and important account notifications.
- Process and verify subscription purchases.
- Diagnose crashes and improve the app.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not show third-party ads.
4. Service providers
We use the following providers to run Prep Time. Each handles data under their own privacy terms:

5. Children’s privacy
Prep Time is intended for secondary school students aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, please email us and we will delete it.
6. Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. This immediately and permanently removes your profile, study history and progress. It cannot be undone.
Crash reports are retained by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days. Anonymised, aggregated statistics that cannot identify you may be retained longer for product improvement.
7. Your rights
You can:
- Access, correct, or export your data by emailing us.
- Delete your account in-app at any time.
- Opt out of push notifications in your device settings.
- Revoke Google Sign-In access from your Google account dashboard.
8. Security
We use HTTPS for all network requests, store secrets server-side, and rely on Supabase and Firebase for production-grade infrastructure. No system is 100% secure — please use a strong password and keep your device updated.
9. International transfers
Your data may be processed on servers outside Zambia (typically the European Union or United States) by our service providers. They are bound by their own data-protection commitments.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we introduce new features such as AI-assisted study tools. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
